Mobilink Discontinuing its Unlimited GPRS Bundle


Mobilink Jazz has decided to take down its unlimited mobile internet bundle, that offered unmetered internet per day for Rs. 9.99 plus tax per day.
A notice being displayed on Mobilink website said that daily mobile mobile internet package of Rs. 9.99/day will be terminated while.
All prepaid GPRS subscribers will be moved to base rate package of Rs. 1.125 per 64 KB.
Following is what exactly is mentioned on website:
Please note that current Prepaid GPRS package (Rs. 9.99/day) will be terminated from 5-Apr-12. All Prepaid GPRS subscribers will be moved to base rate package (Rs. 1.125/64KB). Subscribers can then choose from any of upcoming data bundles or continue to use Mobile Internet at base rate package.
Mobilink has said that new packages will be announced soon, however, mobile users are considering this move as a sign for increase in rates for telecom services in Pakistan.
With time, the usage of GPRS over mobile phone has increased tremendously. The trend has followed the widespread penetration of smartphones in the country. A conservative estimate suggests that 7 million mobile phone users in Pakistan uses GPRS for their internet needs.
